What does The Curious Mind sell?

The Curious Mind curates premium mechanical model kits, metal puzzles, desktop fidgets and hands-on products designed to inspire focus, creativity and screen-free downtime.

Are the products suitable for adults?

Yes. Our products are selected primarily with adults and older teens in mind - whether you’re an engineer, maker, collector, problem solver, creative thinker, or simply looking for a more mindful hobby.

Do the products require assembly?

Many of our products arrive as kits that require assembly. Product pages will indicate whether assembly is required and include details such as estimated build difficulty, materials and dimensions where available.

Do I need glue, paint or tools for the DIY kits?

No - all of our DIY kits include the tools and components required to complete the build, so you can get started straight out of the box.

For those wanting to make the experience even more enjoyable, we also offer optional accessories and specialist tools such as magnifying glasses, precision tool sets, and other build-enhancing extras. These aren’t required, but they can make assembly easier, more comfortable, and even more satisfying - especially for intricate builds or longer sessions.

How difficult are the model kits?

Difficulty varies by product. Some builds are ideal for beginners, while others offer a more detailed and immersive challenge for experienced builders.

Are the products suitable as gifts?

Absolutely. Many of our products are packaged for gifting and make excellent presents for birthdays, Father’s Day, Christmas, corporate gifts, or anyone who enjoys building and creating.

Do assembled models move or function?

Some products include moving mechanical elements, interactive features or display functionality. Product pages will indicate whether movement, lighting, sound or other features are included.

Do you restock sold-out products?

Where possible, yes. If an item is unavailable, you can sign up on the product page to be notified when it returns.

What payment methods are available?

  1. We offer safe, secure online payments through Ozow and Yoco.
  2. Ozow offers instant EFT, Credit Card as well as Cryptocurrency options.
  3. Yoco offers payment via Apple/Google Pay or by credit card.

How do I place an order?

Simply add your chosen products to cart and complete checkout using one of the available payment methods shown at checkout

Will I receive order updates?

Yes. Once your order is placed you’ll receive confirmation by email, followed by shipping and tracking updates where applicable.

I entered the wrong shipping details?

Please contact us immediately and send the correct shipping address via email. If your order has not yet shipped, we may still be able to update the delivery information.

My order arrived incomplete?

Please contact us with your order number and details of the missing item(s). We’ll investigate and work to resolve it as quickly as possible.

Shipping & Returns

Where do you ship?

We deliver nationwide, within South Africa. Delivery options may vary depending on your location. Orders are shipped from our fulfilment centre in Cape Town.

How much does shipping cost?

We offer free shipping on orders of R980.00 and above.

For orders below R980.00, a flat shipping rate is charged at checkout. Where available, we may also offer collection or locker-based delivery options. These options may be more cost-effective for smaller parcels, but may not be available for larger or heavier items:

  •  Door-to-door courier delivery: R95.00
  •  Pargo Click & Collect: R80.00
  •  Bob Box Lockers: R65.00

The available delivery options and costs will appear at checkout once you have entered your delivery address.

Remote areas, farms, mines, game lodges or outlying regions may incur additional shipping charges. If this applies to your order, we will contact you before dispatch.

How long does shipping take?

We strive to dispatch orders within 24 hours, excluding weekends and public holidays. Orders placed over weekends or public holidays will be processed on the next business day.

Delivery to major centres usually takes 1 to 4 business days after dispatch. Deliveries to outlying areas, locker points or collection points may take slightly longer.

We do not ship to P.O. Boxes.

How do I know when my order has shipped?

You’ll receive an email confirmation once your order has been dispatched, including tracking details where available.

What if my package arrives damaged?

Please contact us as soon as possible after delivery, and include photos of the packaging and product so we can assist.

What if my item is faulty or incorrect?

If something isn’t right, contact us and we’ll work with you to arrange a replacement as soon as possible.
